In the coming days, work will begin on the energy renovation of the thermal power plant at the Persio Flacco Theatre in Volterra, thanks to the support of Altair Chemical.
The renovation will involve replacing the current heating system with a high-efficiency condensing system, specially designed to meet the structural and architectural constraints of a valuable historic building. The new installation will significantly reduce methane consumption and CO₂ emissions, improving the overall efficiency of the heat generation system and resulting in estimated energy savings of between 10% and 20%.
For Altair Chemical, supporting the Persio Flacco Theatre is a way to tangibly combine innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility. Rather than simply making a cultural donation, the company chose to carry out a lasting and measurable project that delivers long-term environmental and economic benefits, contributing to the energy transition even within the cultural sphere.
“We wanted to do something concrete and meaningful for the community,” explains Roberto Vagheggi, General Manager of Esseco Industrial and CEO of Altair Chemical. “Supporting culture doesn’t just mean promoting the arts – it also means making the places that preserve culture more sustainable and welcoming. Renovating a historic theatre like the Persio Flacco is a way to bring together technology and respect, innovation and tradition, leaving a positive mark that will last over time”.
With this initiative, Altair Chemical reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability and to the territory of Volterra, making a tangible contribution to the enhancement of a cultural asset that is a key reference point for the local community and the whole of Tuscany.
This focus on the local area is not new: the company has previously donated €50,000 to help secure and restore the San Felice city walls following their collapse in May 2024, and has long supported the construction of the new stadium in Saline di Volterra – a socially and community-driven project backed by Altair Chemical since 2019 with an investment of €1.6 million through Italy’s Sport Bonus scheme.
Different projects, but all tied together by a common thread: the desire to give back to the community and leave a positive, lasting impact on the region by supporting the energy transition, culture, and the social infrastructure that brings Volterra to life and strengthens its community.
