Located in the hamlet of Megolo, in the municipality of Pieve Vergonte, at 220 m\u00a0 <\/span>above sea level, the plant was commissioned in January 1941. It is a run-of-river power plant using water from the Toce River and part of the Anza River.<\/p>\n 1. <\/strong><\/span>The intake on the Toce River is located in Prata, in the municipality of Vogogna, and features a dam originally made up of four gates, increased to six in the early 1990s at the request of the Po River Authority for hydraulic regulation, for a total width of 115 m.<\/p>\n The dam includes a fish ladder<\/b><\/span> to facilitate fish migration.<\/p>\n 2. <\/strong><\/span>The total water flow used is 75 m\u00b3\/sec<\/b><\/span>, including 64 m\u00b3\/sec<\/b><\/span> from the Toce River and 11 m\u00b3\/sec<\/b><\/span> \u00a0 <\/span>discharged from the Edison Power Plant via the Anza River.<\/p>\n From the intake on the Toce River, a free-surface trapezoidal channel<\/b><\/span> extends for approximately 4.95 km, with an average width of 15 m and a height of 4 m.<\/p>\n 3. <\/span><\/strong>Approximately 600 m downstream from the intake screens, the channel includes three additional inlet gates<\/b><\/span> to regulate the water flow into the Megolo power station.<\/p>\n 4. <\/strong><\/span>FIRST TUNNEL<\/b><\/span> \u2013 The first tunnel crosses the Anza River and is 500 m long<\/b><\/span>, with a twin-barrel structure<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n Around 1.5 km from the start of the intake channel, the discharge channel<\/b><\/span> from the Edison Plant joins the flow.<\/p>\n 5. <\/strong><\/span>SECOND TUNNEL<\/b><\/span> \u2013 The second tunnel crosses the Arsa stream at the Rumianca site. It is 150 m\u00a0 <\/span>long<\/b><\/span>, and also features a twin-barrel design<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n 6. <\/strong><\/b><\/span><\/em>Water Intake at Megolo Power Plant<\/b><\/span> \u2013 Before reaching the turbines, the water goes through four screens<\/b><\/span> (two per turbine), each measuring 5.50 m high and 3.85 m wide<\/b><\/span>. Each screen is kept clean by a dedicated rake system<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n 7. <\/span><\/em><\/strong>The power station is equipped with two vertical generator units<\/b><\/span>, installed in 2010, each rated\u00a0 <\/span>5,400 kVA<\/b><\/span> and operating at 9,000 V<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n 8. <\/span><\/em><\/strong>Two Kaplan turbines<\/b><\/span>, each with a 3.75 MW<\/b><\/span> power output, operating at 214 rpm<\/b><\/span>, are coupled with the generators.<\/p>\n The maximum power output<\/b><\/span> of the Megolo plant is approximately 6.5 MW<\/b><\/span>. \nThe electricity generated is conveyed to the industrial site via an overhead double-circuit line<\/b><\/span>, operating at 9,000 volts<\/b><\/span>, with a length of approximately 2.8 km<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n
