{"id":4976,"date":"2022-09-26T15:53:45","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T13:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.altairchemical.com\/renewability-is-born-the-first-renewable-energy-community-for-italian-companies\/"},"modified":"2022-09-26T15:53:45","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T13:53:45","slug":"renewability-is-born-the-first-renewable-energy-community-for-italian-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.altairchemical.com\/en\/renewability-is-born-the-first-renewable-energy-community-for-italian-companies\/","title":{"rendered":"Renewability is Born: The First Renewable Energy Community for Italian Companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<h4><em>To address rising energy costs and enable the achievement of targets set by the European Green Deal<\/em><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>September 26, 2022 \u2013 <strong>Altair Chimica<\/strong>, a part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esseco.com\/\">Esseco Group<\/a>, joins Renewability, the first Community of Renewable Energy Consumers, with founding members EPQ and Dolomiti Energia Trading.<\/p>\n<p>The Renewability model consolidates industrial companies into a Consortium Company aimed at <strong>investing<\/strong> in the construction of renewable energy generation facilities and <strong>supplying<\/strong> the electricity produced by these facilities to each consortium member.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s strategic decision was driven by the desire to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enhance the sustainability<\/strong> of its business by increasing the share of its electricity needs met by green electricity<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contribute<\/strong> to the development of new renewable energy resources in the country, feasible through a long-term asset-based vision (30 years)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Detach<\/strong> from the electric market, a source of extreme instability in this historical moment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Renewability\u2019s innovative model allows the company to become a PROSUMER \u2013 where the producer becomes a consumer \u2013 and thus independent from the electric market for a portion of its needs, supporting only the industrial costs of the initiative. Altair will benefit from a total cost of renewable energy of less than 60 Euros\/MWh for the entire operational lifetime of the plants.<\/p>\n<p>By joining the Renewability project, Altair has decided to <strong>invest \u20ac10 million<\/strong> in the construction of <strong>the first batch of renewable facilities<\/strong> located between Lazio and Abruzzo.<\/p>\n<p>The first 24 MW batch of photovoltaic plants was built by <strong>Marseglia Amaranto Green S.r.l.<\/strong>, which will also handle the maintenance of the plants throughout their operational lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>Altair joined the project along with two other Italian industrial excellences: AFV Acciaierie Beltrame S.r.l., a leading European steel group in the commercial rolled products market, and a primary company in the chemical-pharmaceutical sector.<\/p>\n<p>Altair will own one-third of the electricity produced and will have about 1<strong>2,000 MWh\/year of green energy<\/strong> in its portfolio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2023<\/strong>, by adding Renewability to the already signed PPA agreements and rooftop photovoltaic installations on-site, Altair will be able to cover <strong>35% of its electrical needs<\/strong> with green energy.<\/p>\n<p>Altair Chimica is one of two companies in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esseco.com\/\">Esseco Group<\/a>\u2019s chlor-alkali division, which in the green energy field already owns 2 hydroelectric power stations with a total installed capacity of about 18 MW.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the new investment in Renewability, from 2023 onwards, <strong>over 40% of the entire group\u2019s electricity needs <\/strong>will be met by<strong> green energy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe green footprint is crucial in our development plan,\u201d<\/em> states <strong>Eng. Roberto Vagheggi<\/strong>, CEO of <strong>Altair Chimica<\/strong>. <em>\u201cParticipation in Renewability allows us on one hand to take part in the growth of renewables in Italy and on the other to increase our energy independence.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBy joining this project, we saw a tangible opportunity to disconnect a portion of our electricity needs from the market, having access to renewable energy.
