The future of chemistry also depends on our ability to bring education, research and industry closer together, creating meaningful opportunities for students preparing to enter the world of work.
With this in mind, Esseco Industrial took part in ChimicAziende 2026, an initiative organised by the Department of Chemistry at the University of Turin to connect final-year Bachelor’s and Master’s students with companies operating in the chemical industry.
Esseco Industrial was represented by Daniela Colombo, Technical Director at Esseco, and Francesco Squizzi, HR Director at Esseco, who introduced students to our industrial operations in Piedmont at the Esseco Italy plant in San Martino di Trecate and the Altair Chemical plant in Pieve Vergonte, presenting our processes, technologies and applications and highlighting the role that innovation, sustainability and technical expertise play in the evolution of the chemical industry.
But some of the most valuable moments came after the presentation. The direct exchange with more than 50 students created opportunities for questions, CV sharing and discussions about the skills required by industry and potential career paths. There was also tangible interest in internship and company-based thesis opportunities, showing how direct interaction between students and companies can open up new paths for learning and professional development.
The conversation also extended to faculty members, creating further opportunities to explore research activities and potential collaboration between academia and industry.
This is precisely the value of initiatives such as ChimicAziende: not simply presenting what a company does, but bringing together expertise, research and industry and creating the conditions for new opportunities to emerge from that dialogue.
Because the chemistry of tomorrow is also built this way: by connecting those who study it today, those who advance it through research and those who apply it every day in industrial processes.
