On March 28, 2019, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economic Development regarding the Hydrochem Italia S.r.l. site in Pieve Vergonte (VB). The meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary of Economic Development, Davide Crippa, and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Giorgio Sorial. Present were the Vice President of the Piedmont Region, Aldo Reschigna, the President of the Province of Verbano Cusio Ossola, Arturo Lincio, the Mayor of Pieve Vergonte, Maria Grazia Medali, Martin Leitgeb representing HydroChem Italia Partecipazioni S.r.l., Pierluigi De Giovanni CEO of Hydrochem Italia S.r.l., Roberto Vagheggi CEO of Altair Chimica S.r.l. (a company of the Esseco Group S.r.l.), Alberto Cambieri CFO of the Esseco Group, assisted by Attorney Luigi Redaelli. National and territorial secretariats of Filctem-Cgil, Femca-Cisl, and Uiltec-Uil, along with the RSU (Union Representative Body), also participated.

During the meeting, Esseco Group outlined the industrial plan for the Hydrochem site in Pieve Vergonte to relaunch the site following the purchase of the entire share capital of Hydrochem. This plan includes, among other things, the installation of new production plants using new technologies and the reactivation of the service railway, with total investments amounting to 35 million euros. These investments will lead to a significant enhancement of chlorine and caustic soda production, contributing to the development of Esseco Group’s production capacity in the chlor-alkali sector, with Altair Chimica as its flagship company.

The meeting also presented the operation to purchase the entire share capital of Hydrochem Italia by the Esseco Group, which took place on the same date.

The parties acknowledged that the Esseco Group has resolved to purchase the entire stake in Hydrochem, to operate for the productive continuity of the site and for the employment levels as per the agreements already signed with the social parties, and to invest as necessary for the construction of a new chlor-alkali plant and the new production sections of the chloro-aromatics department in light of the agreements reached at the crisis table.

In presenting the industrial plan, the Esseco Group emphasized the importance for the sustainability of the site to be able to use self-produced electricity.
