Sustainability does not mean deprivation, and for this Christmas period, Altair Chimica wanted to demonstrate this with a present for the community of Volterra: thanks to an agreement with the local administration, from December 15, the holidays will be brightened by an innovative, environmentally friendly ice skating rink that is recyclable and sustainable. The energy consumption, which in a traditional ice rink is around 25,000 kWh and 8.5 tons of CO2 in a month, is entirely eliminated with the Xtraice technology, thus reducing management costs.

Con la pioggia, la neve o il sole, i cittadini di Volterra potranno sempre utilizzare la pista di pattinaggio durante tutte le festività natalizie sino al 15 gennaio.

Whether rain, snow or sun, the citizens of Volterra will always be able to use the ice skating rink throughout the Christmas holidays until January 15.

“A gesture for both the young and the old that we strongly wanted to make this Christmas special. We chose an ecological and zero-impact solution, in line with our corporate policies that concretely and daily demonstrate attention and sensitivity to environmental issues. These aspects were also highlighted in the latest Sustainability Report presented a few days ago by the Tuscan chemical sector, of which Altair is proudly a part. We hope that the rink will accompany the Volterrans’ holidays, giving them days of joy and carefreeness with family and friends. We thank Mayor Giacomo Santi and the entire Administration for warmly welcoming our idea and for facilitating the procedures to make it a reality. Merry Christmas, Volterra!” stated Roberto Vagheggi, General Manager of Esseco Industrial and CEO of the Chlor-Alkali division.
